New Lonely Planet Guide Rates Glasgow Essential Part of a Scottish Trip
Lonely Planet becomes the latest international travel guide to expound the delights of Glasgow and joins the editor of US travel bible Frommer’s in rating the city a ‘must visit’ experience. On page 116 of the new Lonely Planet Scotland guide, it reveals that: “Not only is a stay in Glasgow a highlight of any trip to Scotland, it’s essential. Combining urban mayhem, black humour and, most of all, a delicious sense of fun, this city will entice you to linger. It goes on to advise Lonely Planet readers to: “Approach Glasgow with an open mind, an open heart and, most essential, a willingness to engage – if you don’t have fun in this city, we’d suggest therapy.” Commenting on the launch of the new guide, Scott Taylor, Chief Executive - Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “This is a wonderful endorsement of Glasgow, its attractions and its people by a guidebook that is recognised internationally for the integrity and reliability of its information. “Its author Neil Wilson observes that the city often gets overlooked despite being an essential part of a trip to Scotland. I feel sure that this latest edition of Lonely Planet will do much to redress that balance and will tempt even more of its global readers to visit the city and discover its style and swagger through its lively and comprehensive reportage.” “In addition, this latest accolade will undoubtedly assist our marketing activities in promoting the city internationally as Glasgow: Scotland with style.” Lonely Planet aims to inspire people to explore, have fun, and travel often.
