How Your Business Can Benefit From The London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 Games

Construction of the physical facilities to host the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is flying along.  The London 2012 authorities are now starting to procure goods and services required beyond the physical build associated with the staging of the Games themselves.

It's also an exciting time for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games where the physical build of venues to host the games and their athletes is now well underway.  The Glasgow 2014 procurement portal has recently been launched and businesses can now register their interest in being considered for future Games-related work.

If you want to hear more about these opportunities, and how your businesses can go about bidding for Games-related work, come and join us at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall between 0930 and 1200 on 2nd December.

Speakers will include:
  • Jim McFarlane (Managing Director, Operations, Scottish Enterprise) on why global games events are so important in the context of the current economic environment;
  • A senior representative of the London Organising Committee of The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, on the opportunities for businesses in the run up to and during the staging of the Games;
  • John Scott (Chief Executive, Glasgow 2014 Ltd - the organising committee for the Games) and Archie Graham (Councillor, Glasgow City Council) on progress with the Commonwealth Games and the types of contract opportunities available to businesses;
  • Scott Smith (Director, BiP Solutions) on what it takes to be effective in procuring public contracts;
  • Chris Daniels (Head of London 2012 Activation, Wholesale, Lloyds TSB) on the bank's London 2012 activity;
Stephen Jardine, one of Scotland's most experienced TV presenters, will host the event.

The formal presentations will conclude at 1200 and be followed by the opportunity to attend up to four workshops which will run on 30 minute intervals until 1400. There will also be a buffet lunch available from 1200. The workshops will deal with a range of aspects to help your business get fit to compete. Delegates must book these workshops, listed below, when registering to attend the conference:

  • Bidding For Glasgow 2014 Games Contracts, hosted by Glasgow City Council
  • London 2012 Business Opportunities, hosted by the London Organising Committee of the The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games
  • Developing International Opportunities, hosted by Scottish Development International
  • Getting Business Ready, hosted by Scottish Enterprise

  • Doing Business In Europe, hosted by Enterprise Europe Scotland
  • Improving Business Procurement, hosted by Supplier Development Programme
  • Increasing Your Business Competitiveness, hosted by Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service

The previous two events have been in extremely high demand and have both reached sell out status. With this in mind, to maximise the number of organisations who can attend and benefit from the day we would respectfully request that only one delegate per organisation registers. The event is free to attend, so make sure you register and select your workshops now by clicking here.
