The Monte Carlo Classic Rally returns to Glasgow on
Saturday, January 26, 2013 – watch the city go Monte
mad!

Created in 1911, ‘The Monte’ is one of the most famous and
glamorous motorsport events in the world.
Glasgow will capture some of that magic as one of the four
official international starting cities.
Around 100 Porsches, Lancias and Holdens, from the 1920s to the
1980s, will cross the start ramp in the city.

Forty of those will attempt to reach the finish line; the casino
city of Monte Carlo – a distance of around 2000km!
Competitors will drive to the Channel before emerging into the
sunshine of Monte Carlo after four days, traversing the
snow-covered Alpson the way.
Dudley Moore and Susan Hampshire got a flavour of the occasion,
starring in the globally renowned film ‘Monte Carlo or Bust’.
On the day, Buchanan Street will become a Monte shrine, with
spectators getting up close to the magnificent machines.
The whole event is FREE, including the display and the official
rally start.
Make a date with the Monte and join the thousands waving the
drivers, ‘au revoir’.
The showcase of Scottish Heritage cars will take place on
Buchanan Street from 10am until 12pm on Saturday, January 26. The
focus then switches to the People’s Palace, where competitors
assemble for the official start.
Spectators can enjoy entertainment from 1pm before The Rt Hon
The Lord Provost of Glasgow Sadie Docherty waves off the first
competitor at 2pm.
The last car is set to depart around 3.30pm.
