Bigger, bolder and more fabulous than ever, this year’s Scottish Style Awards will be presented at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow’s Merchant City on the evening of Friday 26th October.
Firmly established as Scotland’s foremost celebration of creative endeavour, the Scottish Style Awards salute individuals and enterprises that enrich Scottish life through their distinguished activities in fashion, retailing, hospitality, and music.
This year’s spectacular awards ceremony, before a celebrity-studded VIP audience, is sponsored by Glasgow: Scotland with style, prestigious champagne house Moet & Chandon and cutting edge radio station Xfm.
Nominations in each of fourteen award categories will decided by a judging panel comprising five celebrated arbiters of style including supermodel Elle Macpherson, Scots-born celebrity hairdresser Sam McKnight, acclaimed artist Dinos Chapman, leading restaurateur and food-writer Mark Hix and cutting-edge fashion stylist Alister Mackie.
Among the fourteen accolades presented at this gala occasion, Scotland’s most stylish hotel, restaurant, boutique, and food emporium will all be honoured, together with our most stylish male and female. The Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year will be named, together with the year’s foremost Scottish tastemaker. And one individual or enterprise will be accorded a very special award in respect of a truly outstanding and enduring contribution to Scottish style.
In association with the Scottish Style Awards, By Special Invitation is an exciting new calendar of fashion and live music events running from Monday 22nd until Thursday 25th October at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow’s Merchant City – and open to absolutely anyone.
As Mary McGowne, originator of the awards and this new initiative, explains, “I wanted to augment the awards ceremony, which remains a red carpet VIP gala occasion, with a week-long programme of inclusive and completely accessible fashion and style events.”
From popular high street brands to luxury designer names, the variety of shows within By Special Invitation is both deliberate and impressive.
Each show will be preceded by a drinks reception and many will have after-show parties too. Apart from the glamour of top models and beautiful clothes, one of the very things that make a ticket to a By Special Invitation show even more desirable is the ticket price: just £10 for any show.
In every respect, the Scottish Style Awards and By Special Invitation promise some of the most glamorous nights of the year. Bailie Liz Cameron, Vice-Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, commented: “Glasgow is known as a place where exciting and stylish things happen. We are thrilled to welcome the Scottish Style Awards back to the city and I’m sure that these events will add that extra bit of sparkle to the autumn winter season.”
Tickets for the By Special Invitation shows are now available in person from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Box Office in Sauchiehall Street, and Glasgow City Halls Box Office in Candleriggs – or by phone (0141 353 8000) and online at
