Gordon and McPhail On Board

Clipper Ventures Plc has unveiled world-leading malt whisky company Gordon and MacPhail as a race partner for Glasgow Clipper in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race.

Following their successful sponsorship and marketing campaign in the Clipper 05-06 Round the World Yacht Race, the Glasgow team returned to the London Boat Show on Friday with their new race partner in anticipation of this year’s race.

Gordon and MacPhail’s sponsorship of the Glasgow team for Clipper 07-08 will help them to promote their Speyside single malt Benromach brand around the world.

Speaking about their involvement with the Clipper 07-08, Gordon and MacPhail Director Michael Urquhart said:

“We are delighted to be involved with such a great adventure. We are proud that the Scottish crew will be supported around the world by one of the greatest Scottish ambassadors – Benromach Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.”

Using the prestigious event as an opportunity to introduce key players to one another on the international race route that takes in five continents, Gordon Ritchie, Head of Clipper projects at Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, aims to build strong working relationships between all parties from the offset.

Clipper Ventures Chief Executive William Ward said:

“We are thrilled to have Gordon and MacPhail onboard as a race partner for Glasgow Clipper. As other race partners have discovered, the race enables them to take their brands around the world to new and established markets.’

The Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race starts in Liverpool on 16 September 2007.
