Celtic Connections: Thur 17th Jan – Sun 3rd Feb
Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures across the globe. Between 17th January – 3rd February 2013, 2,100 musicians from around the world will descend on Glasgow and bring the city to life for 18 days of concerts, ceilidhs, talks, art exhibitions, workshops, and free events.

Glasgow Monte Carlo Classic Rally: Sat 26th Jan
Created in 1911, ‘The Monte’ is one of the most famous and glamorous motorsport events in the world. Glasgow will capture some of that magic as one of the four official international starting cities. Around 100 Porsches, Lancias and Holdens, from the 1920s to the 1980s, will cross the start ramp in the city.

A Season of Contemporary Japanese Films in Glasgow Every Friday in February
Japan Desk Scotland and The Japan Foundation co-organise the 14th Season of Contemporary Japanese Films on four consecutive Friday nights in February 2013 at the Gilmorehill Centre, University of Glasgow, from 6.30 pm, under the theme of Far Away from Cities. Free admission, with free tickets available from 6 pm from the box office.

The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit Exhibition – Scotland Street School Museum: Now – 24th Feb
This fascinating exhibition celebrates the 110th Anniversary of Peter Rabbit and marks the launch of a new tale in the Peter Rabbit series, written by actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson. This newly developed exhibition features original artwork, first editions and rarely-seen material from the Beatrix Potter archive, alongside artwork from the new book. Entry is Free.

Pharaoh: King of Egypt at Kelvingrove Art Galleries & Museum: Now – Sun 24th Feb
Kelvingrove welcomes a fascinating British Museum touring show, Pharaoh–King of Egypt, as the next temporary exhibition. The exhibition showcases almost 100 objects from the British Museum’s outstanding collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts, which is the largest of its kind outside of Egypt.

UDO World Street Dance Championships: Fri 23rd – 25th Aug
Watch the world’s top street dancers from USA, Europe, Asia and Africa compete to become the UDO World Street Dance Champions at the SECC. There will be a host of competitions and workshops throughout the weekend including solos, duos, quads, teams and crew battles and of course the hip-hop battle finals.
